Her political career started in 1975, when she joined SWAPO:

  • Joined the SWAPO Party in 1975 in Mariental as a youth activist and organized the youth in Mariental to rally behind SWAPO
  • Participated in the teachers strike in Gibeon in 1976 to protest against the wages of the teachers who were under the Nama Administration for Namas
  • Joined the SWAPO Party Women’s Council in the 1980’s in Mariental
